This historic building at 6th & Lincoln in downtown Steamboat (which has housed the Old Town Pub & Restaurant since 1983) was originally built in 1904 by Ernest Campbell as the Albany Hotel.  It was one of the area’s finest hotels and catered to the upscale Steamboat visitors who arrived by train.  As Steamboat Springs prospered and the needs of the town expanded, this two-story Victorian structure was converted to town’s first hospital by Dr. Willett (check out the vintage photo of the original building above the front corner booth).

This building later became a post office, general store and a movie theater.  It was also a library, a ceramic shop, a barber shop and a radio shop.  The Odd Fellows maintained their lodge in the building and the second floor was once used as a dance hall.

This building has always been a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike and remains one of Steamboat’s most favorite local hangouts today.  Be sure to look for the wild west bullet holes in the phone booth in the bar as well as the many vintage ski photos of Steamboat that adorn the walls. The bar itself is over 100 years old and we invite you to pull up  astool and hear some old tales.
